How Is Winning Scholarships Able to Help In Avoiding the Traps The System Sets for People?

Avoid the traps of the “system” by winning scholarships for college and living the great life you were put here to lead.  Before I tell you how to win scholarships, I’m going to tell you how scholarships are key to avoiding the traps society has set.  Being trapped is a horrible feeling, whether it relates to a relationship, job, prison, self-imposed limitations, or any other means of confinement.  The worst traps are those that people don’t realize they’re in.  It’s just like the movie “The Matrix” in which people are going through the motions in a world designed to contain and pacify them while they have no clue of what’s really going on.  An even greater tragedy is that many people fall into the same traps that their parents did because they’re caught in a cycle.  Recognize, in order to break a cycle, one must first recognize they’re in one!

College—which generally is a phenomenal investment that can pay off handsomely—is often a double-edged sword.  It can lead people into a hole that they may find hard to get out of.  Don’t get me wrong, some debt is good, and college loans indeed are a model example of “good debt.”  Yet, this still doesn’t change the reality that many people graduate from college with the burden of debt weighing them down.  In a sense they are indentured servants.  So, it is usually best for them to work right after graduating—at least it is if they want to pay off the debt!  However, suppose they don’t find a job right away.  The debt will grow since they are unable to make the payments.  So much for that dream of traveling around the world after graduation.  They need to pay off the money they owe!  Otherwise, it will mess up their credit, which will make it much harder and more expensive to do other important things such as buying a house, car, or even getting a job.  That’s right, a number of employers run a credit check on prospective employees and if they don’t like what they see they may not hire them as a result.

Scholarships can not only solve the problem of being an indentured servant (as in being in debt) after graduation, but they can also solve the problem of getting a job after graduation.  How?  Through leveraging your talents, opportunities, and other resources to win scholarships, and then leveraging the scholarships (and people you will meet as a result) to gain employment.  These are just a few of the many great life skills discussed in my book, Scholarship Rich.  Scholarships are more than just money for college—they are a means to not only avoid being trapped in debt but also for people to get way more out of college than they otherwise would.  I know because I’m living proof of the great things that happen when you win numerous scholarships.  Money is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of benefits.
